The main goal of this assignment was to provide public spaces for recreational activities. A warm city center atmosphere is created between culture center, library, mall and its market place, what truly highlights the city in winter times. We therefore created spaces for winter markets, ice skating and outdoor cinema as well as different festivals like Old Hansa Days. With detailed urban planning a clear path for motorway and pedestrian roads, that range from one side of the center to the other, were mapped out. The rich heritage of Kuressaare is highlighted in the contemporary design of details.
